Need of Notifications in Preventive Maintenance Routine

Dear Experts ,

Please tell me the need of Notifications in Preventive Maintenance Routine if so.

I am putting this query taking into consideration that Notifications are mainly used to know the failure rate ( breakdowns) of the equipments whereas PMR does not deal with breakdowns.

Regards

Preventive Maintenance Can be classified as:

  1. Inspection at First Level
  2. Inspection Specific
  3. Actual Preventive Maintenance

Inspection at First Level can be mapped as Notification for Maintenance Plan call object. For other 2 types, you can map PM Order.

Even from PM Order, either automatic (through configuration mentioned above) or manually, notifications can be created.

Notifications are used generally to inform the maintenance department in case of any breakdown or any request. Also, notifications can be created to specify the damages identified, causes that made damages in case of preventive maintenance.

Hi Keerthan,

Notification is mainly used to request and document the maintenance activity.

Notification is mainly contain technical information of technical object during maintenance processing.

To maintain activity report Notification type M3(activity report) can be assigned to preventive maintenence order type by customization setting:

Plant Maintenance and Customer Service-Maintenance and Service Processing-Maintenance and Service Orders-Functions and Settings for Order Types-Define Notification and Order Integration.

By using this You are able to record Damage, cause task and activity data of technical object found during preventive mainteannace process. and can check the reports in future.

Hi Keerthan,

Notification can be used in preventive maintenance if planner has the requirement to review preventive notifications before converting them into work orders.

Cheers!

Dear Keerthan,

You have a point in saying this,

Usually the significance of notification becomes more in case of breakdowns (M2) because:

- This acts as a communication object between the operating and executing agencies

- We can record Damage, Causes, Activity, Task codes etc.,

- Several MCI reports are based on these notifications such as MCJB, MCJC (for MTTR, MTBR) , MCI5 etc.

- Recording of equipment condition (measuring documents) before and after repairs becomes integrated with the job when done through a  Notification .

Obviously, in the absence of such requirements  in a PMR,  you may think of configuring your system without notification.

Dear Keerthan

There are two things in terms of maintenance.

1. Pro-active approach

2. Reactive Approach

so basically the notifications are defined to take a path towards pro-active approach.
