hope not to be OT but:
$[$38.11.NUMBER] + $[$38.11.NUMBER]
gives 10+10 as as result istead of 20.
anybody an idea?

Try
SELECT cast($[$38.11.0] as decimal) + cast($[$38.11.0] as decimal)

btw. got answer from SAP concerning the combobox - issue:
