Hello,
after installing the Java Security Update on Mac OS X 10.3.9, there are problems running SAP GUI for Java 6.30 because of incompatible changes in the Java update. Many transactions result in an ABAP dump.
The reason behind is that the Java Security Update is not just fixing some security issues, but also updates Java to 1.3.1_16 (see http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302265)
As a result, there are many code changes included since 1.3.1_09, which was the previous version of Java 1.3.1 on Mac OS X 10.3.
To get an idea which changes Sun has made, you can look at http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/ReleaseNotes.html
One of the changes causes code in SAPGUI to break, which previously worked perfectly on earlier 1.3.1 versions and still works on latest 1.4.2 and 1.5 Java versions.
The SAP GUI for Java development team has found a workaround for the problem and a new revision of SAP GUI is now available at
ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/sapgui/java/630r10/
Due to the urgency to provide a solution to run the transactions which do not work any more after installing the Java Security Update, this revision has not seen the same amount of testing like "regular" revisions.
Thus, it is recommmended to install this revision only when the Java Security Update has already been installed. Otherwise please use the previous version.
Best regards
Rolf-Martin
