Linked Documents or Document Parts with EasyDMS

Former Member

We have a requirement where a main document is to be linked to other related documents. The natural way would be to use different document parts and have 000 refer to the master. However the EasyDMS plugin for windows explorer doesn't seem to support this - am I correct?

If so, what ideas are available for linking say 2 documents?

BONUS QUESTION: Is there any way to customise or authorise users to only see certain document types?

Hi Marc,

from my point of view one possibility would be to use the object linking functionality to create a

connection between two different document info records.

Regarding EasyDMS I would like to explain that here the document BOM functionality is used. This means that you have one folder document (BOM header) and then you can add other document info records as BOM positions.

Best regards,

In that case we can't use the BOM/parts because folder objects in EasyDMS do not themselves have originals (files). So can't have a master.doc (on the folder) with child1.doc, child2.doc files inside the folder. I would have to put master.doc and child1.doc etc in the same folder and somehow "flag" the master using classification...

Linking is a good idea. Would be nice if you could drag to link!

Hi,

Reply to the bonus question is.

You have a Badi ' 'DOCUMENT_AUTH01', implement this.

You can get User Roles from AGR_USERS table.

Document types for each role in table AGR_1251.

Thanks & Regards

I'm not trying to hide documents of a certain type. What I want is that users don't see a long list of all the document types in our system. They should only see those types they work with. For example in EasyDMS under SAP Properties of a document they should only see the 2 types they need to work with and not get confused by 20 other types.
