How to conditionally format a drawing object

CR XI: I have a user that needs a (check) box to print in the page header section, but only print on the first page of the document.  I don't see any way to conditionally suppress a line or box.  Any ideas?

Hi Julie,

Lines or boxes don't have conditional suppression formulas.

Try this:

1) Create a new section and place the Line/Box in this section

2) Go to the Section Expert > Select the section that holds the Line/Box > Click the formula button beside 'Suppress' and use this code:

Not(OnFirstRecord)

Thanks, Abhilash, but I needed the box and label to be in line with other text in the same section.  I ended up creating a box in Word, copying it and adding it as an OLE object.  Then, I could conditionally suppress the object.

You could have also tried checking the 'Underlay following sections' option for the section to position the fields.

Anyway, glad you were able to find another way out.

Thanks.  It's just annoying that you can't conditionally suppress drawing objects.  That would be very helpful with lines as well.

Hello Julie

If you would like this feature, you can request it in the SAP Idea Place. Personally I think it's a great idea and I will certainly vote it up and I will tweet it to the followers of @SAPCRDes. The more votes we get, the more pressure on Product managers to add this to the product.

If you do add this to the Idea Place, post a link to it here, so I can tweet it.

Hi, Ludek.

I went to submit the idea, and found that it had already been submitted as idea D637 on 10/21/2010.  It is listed as being "under review".  There is also another one under review -- D1776 submitted on 3/7/2011 -- which just mentions lines, as opposted to all drawing objects.

Excellent. I'll tweet both of them. After that, all we can do is keep our fingers crossed

Looking at the Idea, it has quite a few votes (32 now) as these things go. Coy mentioned BI 4.2, meaning in our case CR 2011 / 2013. BI 4.2 is supposed to see the light of day sometime next year...

I just voted up too!

The possibility of an Idea being implemented increases each time Coy replies or asks a few questions !
