7.0 vs 7.1

Hello,

I am trying to create a case to upgrade Sol Man 7.0 to 7.1. I know that there are several new features, LMDB, SoDocA, RBPD etc. What I am trying to find is what are the issues if I dont upgrade the Solman from 7.0 to 7.1. I have seen some of my CE 7.31 systems not getting added properly on my SMSY as its probably behind on SLD and SMSY. Similarly, what bottlenecks could I face if I dont upgrade? Can someone please assist? All inputs are welcome.. Thanks

Hi Jim

The maintenance period for Solman 7.0 is getting over in Dec 2013 end for this version so plan an upgrade

if you are not using much you can directly plan new installation to 7.1

but if you using functionalities in solman then you can upgrade the system

LMDB is the new concept and backbone for the solman 7.1 landscape maintenance which helps you to map sap and non sap all the components centrally in solman via sld or manually as per case

Hi,

There is nothing as bottleneck in generic in solution manager upgrade or without upgrade, its a license cost you need to pay, so its good time to move upgrade.

- yes, solution manager upgrade also has all the technical challenges like spau in other systems.

- It also depends on how we are going to use the tools and functionality in solution manager, if you have plan to use RCA, Tech Mon, BI reporting, make sure you have the enough space constriants, you can also get the sizing guide under service.sap.com/instguides.

- if you have Service desk, charm in place of 7.0, there is a pre and post activity to follow on sm 7.1

- and more over if you dont have the smd agent in your landscape, then its good to install smd agent and patch the sap host agent in all your landscape. SMD agent is needed for all latest monitoring functions in solution manager

- As you stated in your query , yes, your cr content in the central sld is up to date for RCA scenario.

- Other that before move to each and every function you might be having set of pre requestie needs to be done for smooth move.
