Hi,

Have you installed the host agent using the root access.

Host agent

Call saphostexec directly with the following parameter:

saphostexec -restart

If necessary, you can perform the stopping and starting of the agent in two commands, by calling saphostexec directly with the following parameters:

saphostexec -stop

saphostexec -restart

Note NOTE

saphostexec is at the following path: /usr/sap/hostctrl/exe

To check the current status of saphostexec, use the command saphostexec -status.

If the host agent is already installed then use the above command to start the host agent.

thanks

Dear Nainesh,

To check the status please run the command:

/usr/sap/hostctrl/exe/saphostexec -status

/usr/sap/hostctrl/exe/saphostexec -stop

/usr/sap/hostctrl/exe/saphostexec pf=/usr/sap/hostctrl/exe/host_profile

Best Regards, Premsukh

Hi

sapdevail:ardadm 27> saphostexec -status

exec(): 0509-036 Cannot load program saphostexec because of the following errors:

0509-120   An offset in the .loader section header is too large.

0509-193 Examine the .loader section header with the

                 'dump -Hv' command.

Hi,

Did some one change the permission of the host agent. They should be installed by root and run by root.

Thanks

Hi,

Please follow these steps to install the sap host agent..

Installation Under UNIX

Please don't forget to download correct SAP hostagent from service market place.

SAP HostAgent is available on the SAP Service Marketplace (http://service.sap.com/swdc) under following menu path: "Support Packages and Patches" -> "Browse our Download Catalog" -> "SAP Technology Components" -> "SAP HOST AGENT".

For NetWeaver 7.00, 7.01, 7.10 and 7.11 you must not use the 7.20 EXT version of SAP HostAgent.

1. Switch to the root user, because you need to perform the installation under root.

2. If the SAPOSCOL working directory does not yet exist on the host, create the directory usr/sap/tmp.

3. Copy the archive SAPHOSTAGENT.SAR to a temporary directory (e.g /tmp/hostagent).

4. Decompress the SAPHOSTAGENT.SAR archive with the SAPCAR tool, following SAP Note 212876. Normally, you use the following command for decompression and executing it in the directory of the archive:

sapcar -xvf SAPHOSTAGENT.SAR

5. Among other things, the archive contains the saphostexec program. Install SAPHOSTCONTROL by entering the following command:

saphostexec –install

For more information about monitoring hosts with SAPHostControl and saphostexec, see the following link:

Hi,

Hostagent is installed successfully. So this will start saposcol internally.

Please check

ps -eaf | grep saposcol

you will see saposcol process running. So all good now.

Thanks

Hello

All you need to do is read this SAP Note and the PDF file attached to it.

Note 1031096 - Installing Package SAPHOSTAGENT

As saposcol is part of the SAPHOSTAGENT you will not be able to see that in the kernel directory.
