If you are trying from process chain, please try once manually from the DSO manage screen. Also check if there are any other requests available in the DSO which are not yet activated. All new requests have to be activated at once.

Hi Akash,
Please check the job log in SM30. You will get some idea. If you are using NLS and you have archived data for the same period then also you might get issue. If not then please provide the job log from SM30 which will clear the picture.
Thanks,
Kamal

Hi,
Try to do a test in RSRV T-Code and check if any inconsistencies. Then go forward if you get any errors.

Pl check below settings and let me know if it works
transaction RSDG_ODSO_ACTIVATE
Execute transaction "RSSGPCLA".

Hi,
Check background jobs corresponding to activation step and analyse the job log.
Below article explains the job log during activation in DSO and how the settings influence activation performance.

Hi ,
In the Manage tab of the DSO , near the Load monitor where you can monitor the load status of a request , there is a column ' Logs' for DSO -Request Processing . Click on that 'Logs' symbol near the DTP monitor , you will get the details of activation steps from there you can find whether the activation has failed in any step .
thanks all.
i know how to activate the request. the problem is when i go to activation, select the request and then click start, it doesn't do anything.
when i refresh i dont see any changes. apparently the activation process is kind of disabled or something, it just doesnt work.
the data size is not big, only few thousands records and this is the only one request in the dso.
any idea?

Hi Akash,
Please check at SM37(in BW server)
Job name: *BI_ODSA*
User id: *
date from 12.07.2013 to today date
status are: Active.
Enter, if you find any job which was still running and check it. if you see any job there that may cause. Please check it.
Have you deleted any request for this DSO before activating??
if yes, that also may cause because previous request may not be deleted completely from back end tables.
if you remembered delete request id name, then need delete that id from below tables:
RSICCONT,RSMONICDP, RSODSACTUPDTYPE and RSODSACTREQ .
Thanks
thanks. i tried this in sm37 and i can see nothing in the list but when i check for all the jobs i can see the same request status is shown as cancelled. i deleted that in sm37 and tried re activation the request in dso and then when i went back to sm37 i could see the same request going back to cancelled status. so it looks to me the activation request is being cancelled by something.
yes, i deleted one req before and then deleted manually the new table too.
also when i checked those table, i find number of entries as follows but i couldnt delete the list (may be cause its test system)
RSICCONT 1
RSMONICDP 52
RSODSACTUPDTYPE 0
RSODSACTREQ 1
what to do now ?
HI,
In the activation window, there will be a place to set BGDs. Keep it as 3 or 5.
How many records are there in this request? Is it so big? Logout and login again and try to activate again.
Did you delete any previous request yesterday or today? IF yes, that request might not have been deleted properly. It must be lying in RSICCONT and RSODSACTREQ tables. Please delete that request from tables.

Suman
