Number range for equipment category

Hello,

I have 4 equipment category types and have to maintain different number ranges for all.

I have done this previously but now I am not able to do this due to change in screen. When I change the number range it changes for all categories.

Earlier screen - When we enter OIEN, the heading we used to get was "internal number ranges for equipment"

Now screen - When we enter OIEN, the heading we used to get was "Range maintenance: Equipment number"

Please help. I am struck.

Hi,

Try to follow the below step and see if you can do it

1. Enter Transaction code OIEN will tak you to internal number for Equipment screen

2. Click on Change Group button will take you to Maintain Number range group Screen

3. Maintain the Groups by following the Menu path --> Group --> Insert (or press F6) and Maintain the number range based on the requirement

4. The new group created will appear on the Maintain Number range group screen.

5. Then select one equipment categories appearing under the text "Not assigned", then click on select element button (or press F2)

6 Then Select the check box of the group that need to be assigned

7. Then clcik on Element /Group  button . After performing this step , the category that was selected should appear under the group  the was selected.

Hope this will help.

Hi Mani,

When I click OIEN the heading comes as  "Range maintenance: Equipment number" here where as it used to come "internal number ranges for equipment" where I could maintain using check box.

This is in EHP6.

Hello All,

The problem has been resolved. It was because of multiple number ranges getting assigned to groups.

This was the example of inconsistency.  I ran the program by going to SE38 - RSSNR0T1- number range object  EQUIP_NR and then recreated the groups.

The problem has been resolved. Thanks to all for the help.

Smart,

  1. Create your 4 number ranges in transaction OIEN
  2. Assign the equipment categories to the number range groups defined above

This is a little tricky as you have to mesa around in the screen by:

  1. Select the relevant group (number range) checkbox
  2. Select the equipment category using the Select Element button
  3. Assign the equipment category to the group using the Assign Element/Group button

In your screen, go to EDIT and then select INSERT INTERVAL for defining new number range.

Once you enter into OIEN screen, click on Change Group button.

  1. Menu Group - Insert.
  2. Give the group name, number intervals & save.
  3. Go back to Change Group initial screen,
  4. Repeat the steps 1,2 & 3 for all other 3 groups as well.
  5. You can find all the newly created groups under initial group screen
  6. Assign all the Eq. categories to appropriate groups.

Generally, while creating number ranges, you may get message as Enter Number without Overlap. So check the existing number ranges & delete them if you don't really need those. Then create as per your requirement.

Hi Pete,

There is no check box coming. You can see my first post for reference.

When I click OIEN the heading comes as  "Range maintenance: Equipment number" here where as it used to come "internal number ranges for equipment" where I could maintain using check box.
