ESR: Importing IDOC metadata not possible in SAP PI 7.11

Our instance of SAP PI 7.11 has registered in SLD different technical systems.

We could import IDOCS metadata in some of them but we have a problem with one.

The target system is connected through a VPN. RFCs are created and the connectivity seems to work well,

It's not possible for us to login in the target system and choose an IDOC extensión. ESR returns a error message about connectivity.

We got to import IDOC metadata using IDX2 transaction directly from backend.

Is there another way to import IDOCs in Java ESR?

Operation mapping uses IDOC

    Finally the issue was solved.

SAP PI doesn't work correctly with IP addresses. It's desirable to use the Domain server name or DNS.

Once the DSN was configured with the IP address the issue dissapears

    Hi,

What error are you exactly getting when you try to import?

    Thanks,

      Hi,

You are not able to connect to your ECC system from ESR to import the IDOC.

      • Seems any one of the provided IP/system num/client/user are not correct.

      • check if your RFC Destination is working correctly

      • if yes then provide the same host/IP provided in your RFC destination

      • Also check the user you are using has proper authorisations to import the IDOC

      Thanks,

      Naveen.

RFC destination is working correctly. Metadata can be imported with transaction IDX2.

    User has SAP ALL authorizations

    • Hi J.H ,

To create a scenario for the first time using a specific idoc  you need to import the same from R/3 system. Secondly import of the idoc into PI is also necessary if idoc structure has undergone changes in r/3 System.  In both of above cases, only internal import of idoc metadata using transaction IDX2 will not solve the purpose. Please discuss connection problem with target system

      with BASIS team/ Network Team.

    Hi

Yes, It's a basis or networking issue.

ESR connect through RFC as transaction IDX2 but it's waiting somethin more.

Maybe some port is closed in the VPN

    Hi Iñaki

Besides this i need to customize operation mapping using IDOC, no service interface can be used in this case.

Integration builder or integration directory uses the IDOC too in the customizing
