Develloper edition to CRVS2010

Hello,

I can't find an answer for my question under the Crystal Reports versions list so...

I'm using Crystal Reports XI r2 (Develloper Edition) and want to upgrade to a develloper edition equivalent to CRVS2010 but without using Visual Studio.

There are any upgrade for this situation or do I need to devellop with Visual Studio? If there is an upgrade, which one is it?

In another words, which upgrade, from CR XI r2 to a newer version (forget VS2012), should I buy so I can still develloping withou using Visual Studio?

Thanks in advance

Hello Luis

That would be Crystal Reports 2011. An eval is available from here:

Thanks Ludek.

And if I want to use CR2011 with Visual Studio 2012 there are any Service Pack or to work with VS2012 I must buy an upgrade (which one)?

Hi Luis,

Just to clarify also, when you send the reports to other users they do need CR Designer installed also to be able to run the reports. If they don't then you do need to develop an app that allows them to view the reports and this requires development using our .NET SDK components as well as they have to install the complete distribution package.

And yes CR Develoepr for Visual Studio integrates into VS 2012 also, same install package as CR for VS 2010.

SP 6 is the latest and the first version that supports VS 2012.

OK, so correct me if I'm wrong:

Buying CR2011 I have a standalone installation and I can devellop applications with reports without using Visual Studio and distribute them to all my clients. I devellop using .NET SDK and my clients don't need to buy any software.

If I want to devellop applications using Visual Studio (2010 or 2012) I just need to install SP6 in my CR2011.

Is this correct?

Hi Luis,

Cr 2011 or Cr 2013 is the the equivalent CR for CR for VS. But there is no development version of CR Designer now. CR for VS is the runtime for CR 2011/2013.

What is it you are trying to do? I assume you will be developing but not using VS?

And no more RDC or Delphi VCL components. .NET Assemblies only or you can develop in Java. This Java SDK parts are installed with CR 2011/2013 installers.

Hi Don, thanks for your reply,

I'm develloping in .NET and not using VS.

I want to:

a) Use a standalone installation so I can create / edit my reports using the CR interface;

b) Integrate my reports in different applications, eventually registering some dll, and distribute them for all my clients

c) upgrade for a recent version so I can use the new features and easily connecto to SQL Server.

With CR2011 I can do this? No Visual Studio needed? And am I able to distribute them to the clients freely without any obligation of install any software (ok, maybe CR runtime)?
