the database table cannot be found

I have over a hundred individual rpt files.

Each is based on a Report Definition File (ttx).

All were lasted edited in Crystal Reports 8.5.

I am now moving to Crystal Reports XI R2 SP6.

When i open the report and perform Verify Database, then browse to same ttx file used prior i get an error message "The database table "user_info" cannot be found. Proceed to remove this table from the report?"

The reports run just fine without performing these steps but there are changes i would like to make.

Anybody know how to fix this? I have read everything on the web and tried many things with no success.

Thanks

Pat

Hello Pat

Well, this takes us back a few years...

From the message the report is throwing, it looks like the ttx does not match what the report is expecting. I think you can recreate the ttx file in the CR designer(?), but I just don't remember. I'll get Don to have a look at this tomorrow, see if his brain cells are in better shape than mine.

Based on your comment i performed the following.

1. Opened my report in designer

2. Performed Verify Database

3. The  Field Definitions form apprear. From here i can browse to a ttx file or Create File.

4. Chose Create File

5. The Database Definition Tool - Untitled.ttx form opens.

6. I use the file menu to open my original ttx file.

7. A visual comparison shows it matches the report.

     a)  I also did a seperate comparison using notepad and the CR field explorer.

8. I Close the form and it asks if i want to overwrite my file. I do.

9. The same error message appears.

Hi Pat,

Do you have 8.5 and R2 on the same PC? If so don't, not supported. Could be R2 is loading the wrong driver. Try renaming c:\windows\crystal folder and rename crpe32.dll in \windows\system32 folder and test again in R2.

If they are not on the same PC then possibly using the Set Location option may update the RPT file, simply doing a verify may not update the DB driver dll name, we renamed them all in CR 9.

Then ultimately what you REALLY want to do is convert all of your report to use XML and stop using the ttx driver, it was deprecated, or should be. XML is the standard these days...

Should be relatively easy to convert your reports to XML.

Hello Pat

Ok. Now, I'd like you to back up the report. Then open the report and now go through the error message. E.g.; when you get the error message "The database table "user_info" cannot be found. Proceed to remove this table from the report?", let the CR engine do what it will. Let me know what happens.

Also, is this report based on two TX Files?

Are there subreports?
