MDM Taxonomy

We have a product catalog for which we will be using Taxonomy.

The classification data and characterstics will be coming from ECC.

However, can I link a particular Attribute value to a particular category?

For eg: I have attribute as Color which has values like Red, Blue, Black.

I want to apply Red color to one or multiple categories in Taxonomy.

Once I apply this value to category I dont have to add this attribute value in record mode.

Is it feasible? Similarly can I have a image linked to category?

We dont want to add attribute values product by product, so is it possible to do using category by category?

Can this be achieved using JAVA API as well apart from data manager?

      Hi Muniyappan,

I think you want to have red as default value for Class1's attribute Color.

If attribute data is coming in from Import then this can easily be done by value mapping other colours also to Red so that for this Attribute Red is default value updated. For this you will have to create a master xml with all possible values and map all possible value to Red.Once you do a save update on this, you would get red in MDM for all values of source. The catch here is this is attribute specific and if this attribute is linked to other Class even then result would be same.

But if this does not suffice you would have to use APIs to your advantage.

If you want to have fixed values Class by Class why do you want to maintain multiple entries in attribute values?

I would suggest take values on attribute by attribute basis.Records only would use these values present in attributes.
