Travel Management with ESS/MSS

Dear Friends

I'm facing a problem in EP 7.3 ECC 6.0 EHP 5 where i'm working on Java Based Services by using Homepage framework configuration, when I'm previewing Iview or configuring I'm facing "500 Internal Server Error", can you tell me what makes this issue get resolved?

500 Internal Server Error

The initial exception that caused the request to fail, was:

com.sapportals.portal.prt.runtime.PortalRuntimeException: Failed to lookup External Link for: portal_content/com.sap.pct/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.iviews/com.sap.pct.

erp.ess.travel_expenses/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.allmytrips

can you also tell me where I  can place my workflows in Travel Management, as In ESS/MSS we can do for leave request in processing processes. but for travel management how can i perform with workflows & from where system picks it if I take std workflows. I mean where to activate it? In which Img node for R/3 & ESS/MSS config??

Please provide me some valuable Information

Regards

Pradyp

Hi Pradyp

Surprised that you are still working with Java based services for travel expenses when everything now is ABAP based therefore I can't help you with the error.

In relation to your second query regarding workflows there are few threads on SCN which should help you

Hope this helps.

Ankur is right here  - with FIN_TRAVEL_1 active the web dynpro iviews migrate to WD ABAP and the  biggest problem is that in Travel for 7.3 the java iviews are no longer supported.

I wrote a KBA on this topic (1812863) but as this confirms, you must migrate to WD ABAP once you are at version 7.3  -

Regards the workflows: - the standard workflow template is delivered but you may need to adjust this as a template only but usually tcode SWETYPV is where you can check what is active and SWDD to build the workflow.. at least I think this is what you ask right?

cheers

Dear Sally

It was completely my client call for going on the Java, now we're turning on to ABAP, can you please give me ESS/MSS WDA EHP5 configuration document from scratch, so that it will help me further. as I've never worked on the Launchpad (LPD_CUST),Please provide me some useful documents. you can also send me to my mail id if its confidential :

Thanking you in anticipation

Hi Pradyp

I removed the email ID as this is not allowed in SCN but there is a good WD ABAP migration guide for homepage framework attached to the note 1076144, its the best place to start (Have a look at Lukas blog on portal and homepage framework in this forum too - its very useful)

The most important part is this (I'm copying from my own KBA here!)

Check and Compare the "Url Parameter" and "Url for PCD Page" that this
is set correctly.
You also need to check the role assigned that this is correctly called for the PCD Location in the content administration of the portal:

Pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/every_user/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.
bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.iviews/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.
travel_expenses/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.tripform

The URL string in the resource EMPLOYEE_TRAVEL_EXPENSES_SRV* needs to
be the same. The shipped entries are as mentioned in client 000

With regard to this  - DONT mix up the Java and ABAP iviews and also if you have HCM_ESS_WDA_1 active - then you'll need to use LPD_CUST as well

hope it helps

Sally
