Employee working in multiple state in a same pay period

Hi, any suggestion how we can handle the below scenario?

When Employees work location is not California, and works in California for few days in given pay period, how can we calculate the hours he/she works in California. I am thinking we can update the IT208 for the days employee work in CA. What happens if there is split in hours for a same day?

I know its unusual, but like to know if we have any solution when we have split in hours between multiple state for same day(Example if EE works 40 hours in a week 20 in CA and 20 WA - so one day employee might have worked 4 hours in CA and 4 hours in WA)

I would really appreciate any suggestion on the above requirement.
