Hi,

ABAP dump DBIF_DSQL2_OBJ_UNKNOWN is occurring in our environment because of SP - ST-PI 2008_1_700 level 6.

For above solution SAP given Note 1734833.

Our environment is oracle 10.2.0.4, NW7.01, WIN 2003.

According to the note the bug fix is available for 10.2.0.5. and also there is Workaround(solution 2) mentioned.

Kindly guide us how safe it is to go for solution 2.

Is there effect if I did fix this bug?

Best Regards

Satya

Hi Satya,

The Oracle database version 10.2.0.4 is not more supported by SAP. It would be good to apply the 10.2.0.5 patch set or upgrade  the database to Oracle 11g to overcome all the bugs in Oracle 10g.

Hope this helps.

Oracle 10.2.0.4 ->10.2.0.5, is just patch set applying or database upgrade.

Kindly let me know more information.

Hello

You will need to install the 10.2.0.5 installation media and install the software first.

https://websmp208.sap-ag.de/~form/handler?_APP=00200682500000001943&_EVENT=DISPHIER&HEADER=N&FUNCTIO...

Once the 10.2.0.5 software has been installed you will need to start the Database Upgrade Assistant (dbua) to upgrade the database to the patch set 10.2.0.5

Hello

If I were in your place I would first do the work around.

For upgrading the DB requires downtime and it also involves many other constraints.

Also it looks like the fix was provided for the 10.2.0.4 release and most probably the latest bundle patch can have this fix included.

Again for the bundle patch installation you need a maintenance window.

I suggest you to try the work around and see if that helps.

The work around is all about recreating the synonyms and it cannot harm the system.

Hi Satya,

Oracle 10.2.0.4 -> 10.2.0.5 is a patch set application. It is not database upgrade to new version.

Hello

Oracle 10.2.0.4 -> 10.2.0.5 is a patch set application. It is not database upgrade to new version

You will follow the standard database upgrade procedure to get the database to the latest patchset of 10 G.

You will replace the existing Oracle binaries with the one from 10.2.0.5 using the runinstaller

Then you will upgrade the database to the latest patchset of 10 G which is 10.2.0.5 using the dbua.

Hello Satya,

As mentioned in the note, the workaround only drop and recreates synonyms gv$session_fix_control and gv$system_fix_control.
