Recommended PC requirement for developer in Design Studio

Hi,

I have been searching the web to find recommended PC requirements, not just the minimum requirements, to do development work in BOBJ as well as Design Studio.

I am due for a new laptop and was trying to see if there was any justification for an i7 64 BIT OS with 16 GB of RAM.

I will be using the new BOBJ toolsets as well as the BW 7.x WAD and Query Designer.

Any pointers will be greatly appreciated,

Hi Lloyd,

I have a test laptop that has Windows 7 64 bit OS (Service Pack 1) with 4 GB RAM

It works but it is slow...so likely the more RAM you have the better.

I'm running Lumira, Design Studio and the BI client tools.

Being a 32bit application, I am not sure how Design Studio can make use of >4GB RAM. Does it uses WOW64? I am not a hardware person. But having more memory can help DS and other programs in parallel to run smoothly. My recommendation are 8GB for laptops and 16GB for desktops minimum. I would rather spend my money on memory than processor.
