Simulated Maintenance Orders

Hi all.

Here's a fairly reasonable question from one of our users.

"Why can't I see an IW33 simulation of an order that has not yet been called from a maintenance plan?"

I know you can simulate SD orders, but I've never seen it done with PM/CS orders.

Anyone seen this before?

The scheduling overview and simulation provides information about maintenance calls,
maintenance call objects, maintenance items and the capacity load for work
centers concerned, which result from the maintenance plans. The function is
available for time-based and performance-based maintenance plans and multiple
counter plans But IW33 is only display order list.

Interesting question. Unfortunately, I haven't seen it either Pete. But I'm gonna look into this. Although I have never seen anything remotely similar to a testing or simulation related to PM orders. I'll get back on this.

Edit : Oh by the way, we can simulate a plan, but than again that's only dates and call objects not the actual maintenance order process.

Thanks for the replies.

Unfortunately the "simulation" mode in IP19 doesn't allow you to see an IW33 view of the order.

It may be a nice addition for future releases of SAP... Along with more characters in the Package description field, and, and, and...

What are things you want to see in simulation mode??

  1. Operation
  2. Cost
  3. Components

In my mind, these are the things coming up.

I think, it would be better, if PM have concept of Planned order to Maintenance order same like Production order feature. Even Capacity Planning can be done with Planned orders. Based on the availability of total resource, only required orders can be converted into Maintenance order.

I had this Planned order concept requirement in many of my assignments. Yes, we can use notification concepts, but not handy, I feel.

Thanks guys

I'm going to close the post.

The functionality the client want doesn't appear to exist (as I suspected).

Maybe SAP will include it in future releases.
