We are currently working on migrating our BO XI 3.1 Webi reports to BI 4.
The reports were migrated but we observed significant performance issues when we ran the WEbi reports in SAP BI 4 UAT environment, as compared to running them in BO XI 31. environment.
As a result, our BI Admin team created an OLAP connection for us(probably via the CMC) and requested us to use this connection(they said we will see an option 'BEx Query' that can be used as the underlying source for the WEbi report) for creating all our new reports as well as the reports for which we are facing performance issues.
I'm fairly new to SAP BO XI and BI 4 environments.
I have the below questions:-
1. Now that the OLAP connection has been created, do we need to create the reports for which we observed performance issues from scratch?
2. Is there a way/setting via which we can merely change the source of these reports and point to the relevant Bex queries, without creating reports from scratch?
3. I understand that SAP recommends that when SAP BW 7.x is the source, BICS connections are recommended, so going forward, we would use the OLAP connection created by our Admin team. Does this mean we wouldn't need the IDT(Information Design Tool)?
I would be really grateful if you all could please shed some light on the above queries.
