Unable to Change Reported By

Is there a way to change Reported BY after being selected ?. Once "Reported By" has been selected all edit capabilities of the field are not allowed. For example if you created a incident and you select a wrong person - the incorrect person will be entered in the field. Once selected you will not have the ability to change to the proper person
