I am trying to install PowerBuilder 12.5 on a new Windows 7, 64-bit machine. I have the Windows 7 SDK installed as well a the .NET Framework 4.0.
There are two issues:
1. The install is indicating I do not have the SDK and .NET Framework 4.0 installed (did uninstall the C++ redistributable)
2. The Installshield window that shows the install options for the actual PowerBuilder install never displays or opens; only the icon displays in the task bar.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the SDK and .NET Framework several times and nothing seems to resolve the problem. I am out of ideas.
Does anyone have any suggestions.
Today I was solving the same situation, you describe. I found your topic. But no answer.
The only change is that I want to install PB 12.6. But I think this is exactly the same error.
After uninstalling
VS 2013
.net 4.5
.net 4.5.1
VS 2010
reinstall .net 4.0
reinstall ,net prereq. from PB disk
With no success, I thought about computer reinstall.
BUT I tried the last think and maybe it is solution for people with the same problem.
I boot to W7 in Safe mode with network.
Loged in as Local computer administrator and ran setup. PB 12.6 installation were successful, hidden window appeared ... After restart Windows, PB is installed and I can use it.
HTH ( I realize, that your question came year ago. And you probably solved it ,but maybe it'll help someone else)

Hi Greg,
did you install .net framework 4.0 or 4.5 ?
I remember I had trouble with .Net framework 4.5 installed.
