How to install Hana studio and Hana client?

Former Member

Hi folks,

Can anyone tell me what are the names of the hana studio and hana client installers?

The reason why, when you download the application through the links provided, it gives a zipped file and once you unzip it, it shows many files ended by .exe and you really don't know which one to choose.

Please help.

Thank you!

Amédé

Hi,

According to ur screen shot message, it is saying tht javaw.exe file cannot execute..

hope u are having oracle db in ur system..

try to install java jdk & jre file in Program files folder not inside oracle folder..

may be error because it is inside oracle folder, and some exe files will holding, which can not be supporting for hana installation..

in case this also if fails , then try with other system which is not having oracle db...

if successfully installed then try to install in ur system, hope this will be helpful for u..

Thanks,

Thara.

Hi all,

Good news, I am able to install the proper appliance and run it.

It gives some information as dashboard style about tasks that could be done in the appliance.

Thank you for your support.

As seen in the screenshot you are in Modeler perspective

Click on Administration Control tab on the top to go into Administration Perspective and then ADD HANA SYSTEM :

For adding HANA System just follow this document:

http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-25922

For this you just need Your HANA Server hostname or IP address and Instance Number

Then you will have to provide your User ID and Password

After that you can start playing with your HANA System

Hi Chandu,

I found the installer that you advised me to use and I installed the plateform.

But when I launch it to see how the interface looks like these are the error messages that I am getting :

So are there any pre requisites that I should install first or I chose the wrong version?

wiating for your answer.

Dear Amede,

please try the following:

In file” C:\Program Files\SAP\hdbstudio\hdbstudio.ini” adjust the value for “-Xmx”.

Old value:

-Xmx1024m

New value:

-Xmx512m

Does that help?

Best regards,

Karsten

Hi,

Can you please check if you have 64 bit OS or 32 bit. It seems you have installed 32 bit HANA Studio and client.

If you have 64 bit OS, then you need to install the 64 bit studio and client.

If you have 32 bit OS, then the Xmx value change thing should work.

Hi Ravi,

Sorry for my late reply.

You are right I installed the 32 bit HANA Studio bcz there is no option to check the properties of my machine that's why.

But again, I would like to know something : when you click on the link to download the combined HANA studio and client there is a prompt showing up and it has two tabs:

one is for studio and another one is for client.

my question is: does only one be enough or we must download both since they have the same information ?

Thank you and waiting for your reply.

Hi,

You have to download both Client and Studio to use full functionality of SAP HANA Studio :

https://hanadeveditionsapicl.hana.ondemand.com/hanadevedition/

Using this link you have to download both HANA Studio and HANA Client that are present in two different tabs

Hi Vivek,

Thank you for your reply.

I already installed them and I run the system.

Now left to be done is how to navigate on the system.

Where to go next from the interface that you may see in the screenshot?

looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Amédé,

Welcome to the world of HANA. From your SCN id, I think you are SAP internal employee. I am sure there must be lot of study material and study options internally to SAP. Otherwise you can start learning SAP HANA with the basic of HANA. There are lot of documents, videos, artifacts available on SCN and www.saphana.com. You can also register for some HANA course internally to SAP and get started.
