SAP BW security implementation or SAP BW production support?

I have worked on NON-SAP for around 3 years and now i got training on SAP BW. So as a fresher to SAP BW should i opt for SAP BW Security implementation or SAP BW production support. Which one is good? Can you please guide me on this?

Hi Neha,

If you already know about BW/BI then learning BI security is not going to be difficult. If your earlier experience was in security then it would complement BI or SAP security.

There are two things that you need to understand: Are you interested in BI production support/consulting or BI Security? Also, you can learn ABAP.

Actually, i don't have any hands on experience on SAP BW, its just that i had a training for the same. So, as a fresher to SAP BW i just wanted to know which one is better SAP BW production support or SAP BW security?

Hi Neha,

Without experience it's difficult to find a job in any field. I see many people have certification and training but no hands on experience but that's a general problem with any fresher seeking a job.

Since you have already finished training on BW try for a break in support as it will build your skill and will be a good start. Later you can explore BO/HANA etc.

First aim to get a job in SAP and then you will get a clear picture of what is best for you.

I dont think learning BI Security is going to help much in terms of finding a Job .

You have gone through with the Basic BW Training which can be utilized in Support/Implementation/Ehancement Projects. You need to build your skillset in BW by working efficiently in all such projects. You would be having more number of Opportunites for BW Skillset .

For the time being build your skillset in BW by working in different kind of BW Projects and gradually you would see and realized various opportunities open for you.

Hi Neha ,

From my point its going to be better both in terms of Learning and Opportunity to go for SAP BW Projects (Support/Development/Enhancement). This will land you in a world of understanding the Business requirements , urgency , Critical data and process and various other things that you need to know and would help eventually in building skill set in BW. There are many things that you need and you would get to know while working on real time scenarios.
