Defining new Value Category for Material Cost

Hello All,

We have a requirement for display of material cost in two parts, one as Internal material(for spares) and the other one as Consumables(for grease, oil, cotton waste etc). As far as the defining of value categories, I understand that we can have two value categories defined as Internal material and Consumables and assign the relevant Cost elements that are derived from OBYC. Now coming to the display of costs in the order, as per the standard I see that we can have four value categories - Internal Material, Internal Labor, External Material, External Labor.These are the four cost key figures which are displayed even in the MCI8 report.  I wanted to have the bifurcation in the Internal Material cost as Internal Material and Consumables separately.Though we define the Value category for Consumable Cost, to which Cost key figure can we assign it?(Information Systems for Plant Maintenance and Customer Service>Assign Value Categories to Maintenance Cost Key Figures)  I cannot do the assignment to Internal material as it will be used for Spares.

So my question is whether we can define new Cost key figure by name : Consumables and then assign the Value  Category : Consumable cost to it?

So when I execute an order I have to get display of costs as: for ex -

Internal material: 220USD

Consumables: 100USD

External Labor: 10USD

Internal Labor: 200USD

Hope I am clear in explaining my issue.

Hi Seenu,

Try the below method:

Under Plant maintenance --> Maintenance and service processing --> settings for display of cost --> Maintain value categories

     Define the value category:

          Example: Z100 - Internal Material

                         Z101 - Consumables

                         Z102 - External labour

                         Z103 - Internal labour

     Assign Cost elements to Value Categories:

(You should define the secondary cost elements which will carry the CO cost to the maintenance orders. Example: 810010 to 810013). You can get a help from your FI-CO Consultant to set up the cost elements.

          Example: Z100 --> 810010

                         Z101 --> 810011

                         Z102 --> 810012

                         Z103 --> 810013

By this setting you can bifurcate the cost in the order level.

For reporting you can develop a custom report or BI report on Cost element level.

Cheers!

Report requirements of such nature can easily be developed, if the FS (functional specifications) are explained to an ABAPer.

Not exactly this we have developed several such reports in Orders area, which are not available in standard programs.

The heads you mentioned (consumables, internal material, external/internal labour etc ) need to be split into different line items in the operations/components tab line items. Then you need to identify them through an extra entry in some vacant cell of the respective line item.

Then explain to your technical person, that this line is consumables and this other line is internal material. Similarly for labor cost.

To my understanding this should be possible through a development.

Hello Jogeswara Rao,

Thank you for the reply.

As said earlier my rquirement is to  see these values under different heads(Consumables, Internal material ) instead everything showing under single head(Internal Material)  in the Cost tab page of order and also in the MCI8 screen. As suggested by you I can do the identification etc. But need to have the display in the Cosy tab page and not the Custom report.

Hope I am clear .

Please reply back.

Information System reports are analysis reports where in all different cost can be displayed.

Seeing cost at order level is detailed one which lower hierarchy people will be interested. For higher hierarchy, it may not require to have Internal material into Spares & Consumables separately.

All Information system reports are designed based on info sets & info structures.

If you want to have cost separately for Internal Materials, then you may need to define new info structure, etc., I never worked on that part. So please have some more links which can explain you about that.

Hello Maheswaran,

Thank you for the update.

Has anyone else worked on  a similar requirement? Request your help.
