Hi,

Let me tell you something about my educational background.

I have done BE in E&TC (2009 Passout).

Then i did job for 1 year as a Network Engineer at pune. (2009 - 2010).

Then i did full time MBA in Operations (2010 -2012).

For 1 year i am searching for job but couldn't find any. Now i have decided to take SAP training from an unauthorized institute. I am interested in Materials Management Module. This unauthorized Institute is ready to give me work exp letter for my wasted year plus they will have training for 8 months for which they are charging 1,50,000 Rs. so will it help me?

Also i had inquired at Authorized SAP (REPUTED) Training Institute in mumbai but the are suggesting me to go for SAP BASIS. they are charging 4,50,000 for 25 days of training. Will it help me to get a job after doing this?

also i want to ask you is are my degrees contradicting to each other?

Please help me & guide me. I am very much confused & frustrated as i am 27 now & still jobless.

Tejas,

In order to appear for the certification you must meet one out of the two condition:

1. Training completed from a SAP Partner.

2. A company giving certificate to you detailing your experience on SAP.

Now, it is not a must to have certification. You can go for the certification once you get experience, most important thing is that the training institute should teach you well with lot of good examples and lots of exercises, giving correct explanations to understand concepts.

You are being advised by the training company to learn BASIS may be because of your background as well as your experience as a network engineer. You should take sometime and explore the different modules by attending Demo and then decide. I can imagine how you are feeling because of the situation you are currently in. Remember, a good job can change all problems and frustration at the same time no job can create hell for anyone.

Best of luck with you studies and I wish you get a job soon.

Thank you,

Nagarajan Viswanathan

Hi Tejas,

1. Please do not panic and most importantly loose hopes for securing a better career.

2. First of all you have a good educational background which is most suitable for joining any reputed company in India. (Rather in Pune, Mumbai).

3. Please do not go for these unauthorized training institutes.  And also do not opt for any experience letter for which you don't have any experience.  All the companies do a background check for your education and employment and if found fake, they simply reject the candidature.

4. Go for an authorizaed SAP eduction partner and with your MBA in Operations SAP MM module is a best fit for you.  Whatever the education partner says, stick to what you want and go for the certification.  I know the amount is quite high but I am sure you will found a suitable option after the course.

5. If you are working now, do not leave the job till you complete your course and certification and find a suitable job.

Good luck for the future and always go with your inner instincts.

Hope this will be useful

Thanks and Regards

Hi Dyanesh

I have asked for a similar guidance under the following link,

http://scn.sap.com/message/14550285#14550285

I know it is a bit longer to read, but I thought it is worth asking whatever I wanted to know regarding a critical career change decision. Hope you could help with your valuable suggestion.

Dear Tejas,

We both are sailing on the very same boat.

Even in the field of SAP job is a BIG BIG problem these days.

Certification may give you some added advantage to your CV but not assurance for a JOB.

Same way even fake experience and 8 months of training also may not be in position to help you out. These institutes are merely interested in pocketing your money. Till the time you have money in your hand they will treat you as a King as Customer is always a King but the moment you pay the money you will see their real face.

The fact is these days even certified consultants are not getting JOBs. SAP is not at all a rosy road.

This path is fraught with very high cost, high unemployment and very low success.

Conclusion

First of all i would suggest you to read DOs & DON’Ts for SAP Career (Certification) on the basis of my on going journey from an Accountant t...

coming back to your main question, my advice :

I know that you have struggled a lot for JOB and you are already 27 but SAP is not at all solution to your problem. Do not enter in the field of SAP from JOB point of view.

First thing first accept any job which is available in view of your current profile and start your career. May be in initial stage you may not get suitable job but you can always jump over and keep on growing as and when opportunity arises.

Once you are stable on your career path and in position to invest good amount of money on your education at your own that time you may think of SAP field.

Please put as many filters as you can before taking decision. Your one mistake may cost you high amount of money and golden period of your life. There is high risk of loosing money as well as time (almost everything in life) You may find your self on an island where no body will be in position to help you out.

Bottom line is that please put your foot on any platform where you find place and start your career immediately. There after plan investing available time and money for your growth. If you are thinking other way round I am afraid you may prove yourself wrong.

Wish you all the best.

Dear Tejas,

I myself is a FI certified and I have not much aware of scope in either BASIS or MM module.

But MM is a functional module where as BASIS is a technical module.

Ratio of requirement of BASIS consultant : MM consultant in a project may be 1 : Many same way

Please explore available JOB opportunities in both the modules that my reduce your confusion.

HI Tejas,

Make sure to check with SAP that you will be eligible to seat for certification if you take training from unauthorized institute.
