Hello all,
I'm doing my first system copy (Migration) and after reading the official guides, I wanted to clarify some doubts.
The source system is : WinSrv 2003 x64, SAP ERP 6.0 EHP5 SP4, MaxDB 7.7
The target system is : WinSrv 2008 R2 x64, SAP ERP 6.0 EHP5 SP4, MaxDB 7.8
My questions are :
Hey all
Here how I proceeded (and sys is now working fine) :
Hope it will of use to someone else.
Kr,
Adam

Hello
This is not a migration.
There is no change in the OS and DB type.
For EHP6 you need to first get the OS and DB upgraded.
Good Luck

Hello Benjamin,
Thanks for your answer.
Nevertheless, is the sequence I gave correct for the task?
How about the installation of ERP 6.0 EHP5 in one step?
Another detail I just noticed : the database on the WinSrv 2003 is MaxDB 7.7. But WinSrv 2008r2 needs MaxDB 7.8. As I want to keep the source system as is, is it possible to first do the copy on WinSrv 2008r2 and upgrade the database afterward?
Thanks,
Adam
Hello Adam

It is possible to do an export an import of the system.
Also you can set up the target system on the during the import itself, means you dont need to install MaxDB first on the target system. Instead you can do it on the fly.
How about the installation of ERP 6.0 EHP5 in one step?
If you install a fresh ECC system with EHP 5 only the central components will be on the EHP 5 level.
You will need to upgrade all the components after the installation.
Another detail I just noticed : the database on the WinSrv 2003 is MaxDB 7.7. But WinSrv 2008r2 needs MaxDB 7.8.

You can only install compatible MaxDB database on the Windows 2008 system.
So during the import of the target system you will need to use the version of MaxDB which is compatible to the OS. By this way you are avoiding the upgrade.
Good Luck
