Check if its due to universe connection having time out set for n minutes or disconnect after each transaction in Advanced connection parameters
Try to increase the pool timeout to 20-30 mins or choose option "keep the connection active during whole session" and see if you still have the same issue, try avoiding the second option if the time increase works as the second option may hit performance adversely.
Were you able to test the connection successfully from Universe? What is the middle ware used in the Universe connection? Are you using Single sign on in the universe connection?

Please use the below steps to update the IP address of server, if its a regular BW appserver/message server connection in the universe
Import the Universe
On File>Paramaters>Definition tab Click on edit Connection
This would get you to the Connection details including App server/message server IP, so you can update the IP and Click Next and Finish on subsequent screens.
Save and Export the universe
