NWDS 7.3 SP00 PAT0000 Can´t add R/3 connection

Hi all,

I'm having a problem with NWDS 7.3: when I click add on "R/3 Configuration" under "Window -> Preferences -> Destination Configuration" it isn't display any popup to enter the connection properties.

I'm working with Windows 7 Enterprise and I've installed the NWDS as follows:

  1. Uncompress SAPJVM_6 on C:\
  2. Uncompres nwds-extsoa-7.3-SP00-PAT0000-win32.zip on C:\NWDS73\
  3. Adjust SapNetweaverDeveloperStudio.ini to add the lines
    1. -vm C:\sapjvm_6\bin\
    2. -Dos.Name=Windows XP
    3. -Dos.Version=5.1
  4. Create a shortcut to SapNetweaverDeveloperStudio.exe and add the parameter -vm "C:\sapjvm_6\bin\javaw.exe"
  5. Create JAVA_HOME variable to point C:\sapjvm_6
  6. Adust PATH variable to add $JAVA_HOME\bin

After this procedure I still can´t add an R/3 connection.

Checking the Eclipse UI Workbench plugin log, I assumed the problem is caused by this exception:

java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to invoke the method java.util.Properties.getProperty(java.lang.String) of an object loaded from local variable 'properties'

Does anyone knows what am I missing? Is it possible to modify an XML or something to add the connection?

Regards,

Gregory.

    Problem solved.

It was -Dos.name instead of -Dos.Name and the same for the version.

    Regards,

    Gregory.

    Hello Gregory,

this seems to be a bug in this release, I recommend you to upload a newer version from the update site. You can find all releases here (requires S-User authentication):

    https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/nw/730/doc/auto_com.sap.netweaver.developerstudio.distribution.complete.extsoa_versions.html

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Ervin
