Disable index creation during transport

Hello all

I'm trying to know if there is an option to disable index creations during transports.

I have searched for hours and found nothing. Any help?

Hi Pedro,

In SAP Basis 710 the ONLINE option for creating indexes can be enabled (and disabled again) in transaction DBAcockpit.

This switch affects the ABAP Data Dictionary globally. There is no way to set ONLINE indexing for a single table/index (unless you switch it on and off again while a certain index is processed). Whenever an index is created through the data dictionary it is created according to the setting in the DBA cockpit.

An exception are SAP upgrades: The setting does not affect any upgrade activity. During upgrades indexes are always processed with maximum speed (ONLINE option OFF).

Thanks for the reply, it turns out that i was asked the wrong thing, and therefore i could not find it, so i oppened this message for help.

But your answer was very helpfull, so once again, thank you very much.

It turns out that we need to create an index in a 1.6TB table, which will be fun. The search lead me to Note 334224 - Important notes for creating indexes
