SAP Solution Manager Dual Stack Architecture - Java Stack Pieces

Hi Experts,

So, recently I have started working more on SAP Solution Manager 7.1 which is a standard Dual Stack system with both ABAP + JAVA Instance.

I have a standard system installation, where in the Central (SCS), ABAP, J2EE, Database (Single DB with separate schema's SAPSR3 & SAPSR3DB) are on a single host.

I am trying to understand that where does the Java Instance / Stack or the so called J2EE Engine fit in as a piece.

Usually in a pure Java system you have instances like SCSxx (Central Instance), JCxx/Jxx (Java Instance)

And in case of ABAP Systems you have DVEB*  (Central Instance), SCSxx (Central Services), Dxx (Additional Appl. Server/ Dialog Instacnce) and stuff like that.

So I can't help trying to Fidel with my imagination, after exploring that j2ee dir (which in turns contains all the components of Java Stack like JSPM, Visual Admin, Configtool etc) is located under DVEB Instance.

So what is this here? That the Java instance is clubbed with the ABAP instance side by side?

Or is it, that Java piece is packed inside the ABAP instance DVEB*

I am more inquisitive about the architecture and how the start up of dual stack takes place?

Any presentations, architectures, explanations are greatly appreciated!

Regards,

Akshay.

Hi Akshay,

Or is it, that Java piece is packed inside the ABAP instance DVEB*

It's indeed located in the /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS<XX>/j2ee

Kind regards,

Mark
