Hello,
I am a beginner in MDM 5.5.
I tried to import the customer data via the import manager. I got the error message:
<b>" E1KNA1M wasn't found in the source "</b>
What's wrong with this repository ? I used the DEBMDM06 for extraction out of an R/3 4.7. The XML-file includes this segment !
Can someone help me ?
Thanks in advance.
Michael
Hi Michael,
What about your mapping? Is everything fine??

Hi Nicolas,
The ini file could look like:
[Source]
Type=XML
File name=C:\Conversion Files\Source Files\
DBMS Server=
Database=
User=
Password=
Read-Only=false
[Destination]
Repository=
Server=
Port=2600
User=
Password=
If file type is Excel, read-only=true in the source section.
You can put your XMLs, and Excels as well as ini files on the C: drive. Please check the file name line in the above example.
Then, you can also create a bat file with all your import manager batch commands. An example command would look like the following:
ImportManagerBatch.exe /INI "C:\Conversion Files\Ini Files\Excel MDM IMB.ini" /CLIENTSYSTEM "XX" /MAP "ZZ" /LANGUAGE "English [US]"
Lastly, the command should be executed from the import manager directory on C drive (for example, C:\Program files|SAP MDM 5.5\Import manager). If you have a bat file, you place the bat file there...
Good luck!
Savi

Hi Savitri,
thank you for the answer.
I have done it like this but the thing is. I do need XML Schema. And this is only possible right now via the Import Manger and not the Import Manager batch. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Hopefully it will be available with SP03.
Isit possible to define a Port in the Import Manager Batch? Because then I could also define this Port in the Console for XML Schema. This would be kind of a workaround. But I think ports aren't possible as well.

Hi,
while in ImportManager connect to source window, select
Type = "XML Schema"
client system = "R/3 4.7"
XML Schema = "DEBMDM06"
File Name = XML file(s) to be imported.

Hi Ronen,
I am also trying to import Customer Data from R/3.
Could you please tell what values should I put to setup
Client System and Ports in MDM Console?
I setup the client system in MDM Console as
Name : MDC (R/3 4.6 DEBMDM05)
Code : MDC (R/3 4.6 DEBMDM05)
Client System : Import
Ports as:
Name : R3Import
Code : R3ImportCode
Type : Inbound
Data Definition: XML
Client System : MDC (R/3 4.6 DEBMDM05)
Don't know what to enter in Map, Interface Name and Interface Namespace fields. Need help.
When I run the MDM Import Manager,
on Connect to Source dialogue box, I select,
Type: port
Client System : MDC (R/3 4.6 DEBMDM05) [ defined in console ]
In Port field I can see the value for Ports that was defined in the console. But it won't let me select it.
Any idea why? What's missing? What are the right steps to get data from R/3 to MDM Repository via XI.
Note: I am following the SAP NetWeaver MDM 5.5 SP02
Scenario Configuration Guide
Master Data Consolidation
Master Data Harmonization
Central Master Data Management.
Thank you for your help in advance.
Abhay
Hi Abhay,
First, Change the client system type to inbound/outbound instead of import.
Second, make sure that the code of the port is identical to the name of folder created for the port, I usually keep the code identical to the name.
Also change the data definition/format from XML to XML Schema, using XSD is the only why to insure a consistent parsing of XML files.
The map to enter should be the one which mapped the R/3 customer object to MDM and it is part on the content delivery 01_DEBMdM05_R3
Lastly the port in grayed out since there are no files in the ready folder, please copy the XML file you would like to import to this ready folder
Located under C:\Program Files\SAP MDM 5.5\Server\Distributions\...
Revised definition:
[Client System]
Name : MDC (R/3 4.6 DEBMDM05)
Code : MDC (R/3 4.6 DEBMDM05)
Type : inbound/outbound
[Port]
Name : R3Import
Code : R3Import
Type : Inbound
Format: XML Schema
Client System : MDC (R/3 4.6 DEBMDM05)
Map: 01_DEBMDM05_R3
Hope this hepls,
Ronen
Ronen,
Thanks for quick response.
Let me fill you in with the my environment info. I am using MDM SP 02 with SQL Server on Windows XP.
I am following the SAP NetWeaver MDM 5.5 SP02
Scenario Configuration Guide to import customer Data from R/3 to MDM repository via XI, idoc.
According to guide I was able to extract the Customer data from R/3, and using XI (and FTP) I was able to get the data file customer.dat (which is in XML format).
In console I tried to setup the client system as a you specified, but here is what I see in my MDM console
Name: MDC (R/3 4.6 DEBMDM05)
Code: MDC (R/3 4.6 DEBMDM05)
Client System: Import [ for this field it shows me Import, Export, Import/Export options only and not the inbound/outbound as you specified]. If I select option Import then only it will show this Client System while defining the Port.
For port definition it shows following fields
[Port]
Name : R3Import
Code : R3Import
Type : Inbound
Data Definition: [ dropdown options are Access, Excel, XML, Flat Text, XML Schema. Were you referring this field as the 'Format' field.]
XML Schema: I selected DEBMDM05 from dropdown.
Client System : MDC (R/3 4.6 DEBMDM05)
Map: [ dropdown does not have any values to select and I can not type in that field]
If you are still with me, what are the correct settings for Client system and port?
How those settings are being used in Import Manager?
On Connect to Source dialogue screen what should I select/enter for following fields?
Type : [options are Access, Excel, ODBC, Oracle, Port, SQL Server, XML, XML Schema]
Should I be using Client System and Port or XML/XML Schema????
Client System: MDC (R/3 4.6 DEBMDM05)
Port : [ Why this value 'R3Import' is grayed out??? ]
Please help.

Hi Ronen,
I did it exactly the same way as you described it. It worked. But now I want to schedule a batch import job to do the same thing.
Doesn't work!
How do I have to define my batch job ini file?
Type= ?
File name= ?
...
[Destination]
... this should be as usual
I have done some batch jobs with Excel files before and they worked on my repository.
Now the XML files do not work.
And also: Where exactly do I have to loacte the xml file on my hardrive? ...\Distributions\[Server Name]\[Repository Name]\Inbound\[Client System Name]\[Port name]\...?
then what? Archive/Ready or Status? Or non of them?
Thank you for help
Regards
Nico
