Hi,
We have an MDM system containing material master data.
We have been adviced by SAP to use the MDM Portal for searching materials.
In this regard, we need to look at the options on how to make users able to access the MDM Portal from R/3.
The question is, does SAP deliver any kind of standard functionality for sending the user to an MDM Portal in a browser from SAP R/3?
The business does not wish for a solution demanding modifications in the SAP system, like adding a new z-transaction in the menu tree, a button in MM03 transaction or adding the link in the search help for MM03.

Thomas
Hi Stefan,
your MDM is an 7.1 NetWeaver MDM? Iam not sure, you are talking about R3 so i think your MDM is a 3.0?
If its based on 7.1, SAP delivers a set of predifned SAP Portal iViews (via SAP Portal Busniess Packages) where you can search Material Master Data.
For the 3.0 also iViews exist via SAP Portal Busniess Packages!
SSO between SAP Portal and the NetWeaver MDM/MDM 3.0 is also possible.

Hi Thomas,
I guess what SAP would have suggested is before creating a new material, users can check for its existence in the ERP system.I guess a link can be made in an Iview and that can navigate to another login screen.
I am not sure if single sign on can be enabled here, probably a portal developer can advise you on that.
You can also automate this by defining an algorithm and getting back result using SAP PI.
Based on this result user would be allowed to create or not. This could require usage of ccBPM.
Thanks,
Ravi
