What is the best option to connect two backend systems to ESS and MSS?

Hi everybody,

I have to connect two backend systems to ESS and MSS; the backend systems has a differents HR organizational structure ( O, S, P ) and there are not relationship between them. the services to connect are the standard for ESS (Lookup employees, personnel data, leave request, UWL).

I am thinking in two possible scenarios:

1. One SAP Portal: configure Jcos, systems, alias, SSO for each backend, then copy the content server for ESS and MSS, and modify the system field for each wd iview with his corresponding connection.

The central repository for the users will be one backend system, where must be exist all the users from the two backend systems.

2. Two SAP Portal: configure Jcos, systems, alias, SSO for each backend independently, configure ESS and MSS standard independently in each SAP Portal, and create a custom Role in one of the SAP Portal with the two iviews for each ESS and MSS service.

In the two scenarios I consider one SLD system; and also consider just one point to acces by the final user (employee, manager).

I would like to know if there are maybe another simple way to realize this connection. ( Federation??)

(Backend systems with EHP5 and Neatweaver Portal 7.3)

best regards,
