Search the employees from portal standard search

Hello all

Is it in some way possible to perform an employee search from the toolsarea search iview that returns the employees using a special layoutset?

A scenario could be:

The user goes to advanced search and selects the index: "Employees". The user then performs a search. Now the results should be shown using the WhoIsWhoLayoutSet instead of the SearchResultLayoutset, which will be used for all other searches.

Is it possible to achieve a functionality like this in some way?

P.S. Just so you know - I am aware of the WhoIsWho iView and its functionality, but I want to implement the employee search in the standard search, but with a specific layoutset.

Best regards

      Hi Matthias,

      Thanks for your answer.

Yes, I would like the layout set to switch dynamicly. At first my thought was that if the user selected "Employee Search" (ume) as datasource, then he/she should not be allowed to select any other datasources. I thought of it as an employee search within the advanced search. So at first my scenario didn't take into account that users should be able to search for both users AND documents.

If I had to imagine a scenario where it would be a good idea to search for both users AND documents, it could be if "Expert Area"-attributes like "Certifications" and "Core Competences" were added in the UME. Then it might make sense to search for "knowledge management" and find knowledge management documents and employees certified within Knowledge Management and Collaboration, etc.

So I guess the way to render item properties in a list resource type dependend solution you are talking, could be a good idea. Unfortunately the system I want to implement this functionality on is running SPS11 and I don't think an upgrade will be in play in near future.

But I would really like to see the documentation for this functionality. Could you please provide me that or give me a hint what to search for and where?

      Kind regards,

      Martin
