SAP WMS Storage Unit Management

Hi All

I have a scenario in our warehouse where Materials are stored in pallets, pallets are stored in racks(bins).

Currently we have only material number and bin number in our system.

We need to include pallets also.

So a material A will be placed on pallet B and pallet B will be placed on Storage bin C.

Will storage Unit Management help me in this?

Since we have no master data for pallet, do we need to create master data?

Regards

Iyer Kartik

    Hello Kartik,

In EWM, there is no storage unit like WM; it is replaced with handling unit. So you will need to use handling unit customizing.

    Check for documentation:

    Best regards.

    Dear Karthik ,

SU can be used for tracking pallet  , you can maintain WM pallet master data in WM2 views in material master and check how it can be useful for your business.

Kindly revert incase of any querys

    Thanks

    Hi Kartik,

I assume you want to ask this question in SAP Centralised WM forum and not in EWM forum.

    To answer your question -

Yes you can achive what you want .You will have to activate SU management and maintain the relevant SU management master data via config -the configuration summary for SU management is like this -

For SU management activation you need to have palletization data maintained in material master. This palletization data is linked to storage unit type .You also  need to maintain bin type data. The bin type is the different types of bins available in the warehouse. The  Bin type is assigned to requisite Storage unit type giving system information about which Storage unit type can be stored in what bins. This is what you want .

Further you want to have re usable Storage units i.e pallets. To achieve this use in the Storage unit  management config - LE - Warehouse management-Storage units-Define number ranges -here in storage unit number range use assignment type 2 or as per your need.

Print  labels as per your need and paste permanently on your pallets.

Now when ever you are creating a Transfer order in a storage type where SU management is active system will ask for the storage unit .Here you can enter your own storage units from the pallet you are using. If you have selected assignment type 2 system will try to assign new storage unit automatically from internal number range but you can over write this by giving your own number (you can try this and check)

Hope this answers your question. Reward points if helpful.

    regards,

    Samir
