Hi Experts,
I want to know supported minimum DBSL patch level for DB2 9.5, 9.7, 10.1.
I found this information in Database Upgrade Guide presented in SAP marketplace.
But some information are known in this documents.
Please tell me following,
Supported minimum DBSL patch for DB2 v9.5 on SAP kernel 701
Supported minimum DBSL patch for DB2 v9.7 on SAP Kernel 720
and tell me information source of above.
thanks
Hideto
Hi Hideto,
As Frank rightly said unless there is any specific requirement described in SAP note or installation or upgrade guide, best practice is to apply latest SAP kernel to have updated dbsl patches available in the SAP system.
As per SAP note
1629598 | SAP Kernel 720 will replace older kernel versions |
Older SAP kernels are no more supported by SAP. You may need to apply SAP kernel 7.20 or higher based on the SAP release.
Hope this helps.

Hello Frank and Deepak,
Thak you for your advice.
I know it is best practise using latest SAP kernel.
I have planning the system configuration of the future, and research how to translation of our many systems .
Translation means, OS migration, DB Upgrade, R/3 Release upgrade, and soon.
Because I have to know limitation based on complex of versioin of OS, DB, R/3 Release, Kernel, Internet exploler, MS OFFICE, etc.
As you say, by using latest SAP kernel,
It is not nessesary to care about limitation of SAP kernel and DBSL.
Regards,
Hideto
Hi Hideto,
As you apply latest SAP kernel most of the known bugs are already fixed. Hence no need to worry on future operations on the SAP systems like DB upgrade, R3 release upgrade , Migrations etc.
When you go with such upgrades or migration these guides will have relevant information about SAP kernel patch level requirement. During that time you may apply that SAP kernel patch.
Hope this helps.,

Hi Hideto,
the minimum DBSL patch level can be found in the database upgrade guide.
However it is always recommended to use a current DBSL patch level. Please note that SAP kernel 7.01 is out of service and you should use a 7.20 kernel instead.
Regards
Frank
