How to create Customer with External Number Assignment in S4/HANA 1511 as Business partners

Hello,

I understand to create a customer with company code/sales and distribution master data I must maintain data for both FI customer and Customer roles. But my question is, how do I do create a BP/customer using my own number (External Number Assignment)? The internal number assignment works exactly how it is supposed too, but when I use external number assignment it forces you to use a letter in front of the number in order to define the BP/Customer? Then, if you go to XD02 to look up your BP/Customer it is under a completely different number? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can use external number assignment with numbers, if this is what you want.
1. Create a new interval for the BP (BUCF)
2. Assign the number range to your BP grouping (V_TB001)
3. Define number assignment for direction BP to customer
4. Configure your customer account group to use an appropriate number range (the good old customer account group setup in FI)
5. Assign your BP grouping to the customer account group in V_TBD001.
6. Create the master data
If you need internal number assignment, but you wish to have the same number for customer and BP, just set Same Number = 'X' in V_TBD001.
