Why .NET Framework is required for SBOP BI 4.0 server installation?

Hi everyone!

I was thinking about the installation process of a brand new SBOP BI 4.0 on Win server.. 😕 and I can't figure out why .NET Framework is required for SBOP BI 4.0 server part.. I know that this Microsoft component is necessary for BI Clients installation (like QaaWS and BI Widget) but what I want to ask you all is what can this component offers me during or after a BI server platform installation??
