decrease the size of the monitor log generated by BO DI

Hello,

We would wish to know if it is possible to make decrease the size of the monitor log generated by BO DI. Indeed, certain logs make more 200mo and saturate the disk space with our waiter.

We tried to increase the parameter “Monitor sample rate” with 50000 (as recommended by Doc. BO) for the job which generates us these logs of more than 200mo but that did not change anything.

Have you a idea??

Hi,

You can set the log retention period to delete the logs in certain interval. Here are the details for DS 4.0

Symptom

• Adjusting the Log Retention setting
• How to control the deletion of trace, monitor, error, and certification logs
• Where to find the Log Retention setting in the Central Management Console
• Cannot find the Log Retention setting in the Data Services Management Console after upgrading to 4.0

EnvironmentData Services 4.x (and later)

ResolutionThe log retention setting provides an automatic way to delete log files (trace, monitor, error, certification logs, etc). Effective Data Services 4.0, the Log Retention setting is found in the Central Management Console and is called "Job Server Log Retention Period". With prior versions of Data Services, the Log Retention setting was found in the Data Services Management Console. How to adjust the log retention period:

1. Log onto the Central Management Console as a user with administrative rights to the Data Services application:
   Start > Programs > Information Platform Services 4.x >  Information Platform Services > Information Platform Services Central Management Console Access Management Console
   
2. On the CMC Home screen, select Applications under the Manage section
   
   
   
   
   
3. Double-click Data Services Application
4. Within the Settings, the Job Server Log Retention Period can be adjusted as needed.  Caution:  Don't confuse this with the History Retention Period setting that controls just the job execution history.
   
   For example, to adjust the log retention setting:
   - Enter "1" to display logs for today only (starting midnight)
   - Enter "0" to delete all logs
   - Enter "-1" to never delete logs
   - Enter "1095" to delete logs older than approximately three years
   - For Data Quality reports, set this to "50" days or more so a complete month of data is extracted for any given month.
   
   

Note:  Logs might not be deleted immediately when you save the settings. Changes can take up to an hour to take effect.
