Hi experts,
I need an ideas regarding my issue. The client wants to monitor their inventory by milimeter. When they buy the item it is in pcs. Consider the following following scenario:
1.) The client bought 2 pcs of rod which is equivalent of 2,000 mm. Means 1,000mm/pc or 1 mtr ./pc if my conversion is correct.
ItemCode: Rod
Description: Rod 30X150
2.) The client bought again another Rod. Same Rod but in different length. 1 pc which is equivalent to 2,000 mm. Means 2,000/pc or 2mtr/pc.
ItemCode: Rod
Description: Rod 30X300
Issue:
1.) The UOM is mm. So in my inventory I already have 3,000 mm but I don't know how many pieces..
2.) If I use the item in production and there is a left over how can I handle that? Say I issue 500mm in the production where I get it from 30X15 wrhich brings me a leftover of 500 in the piece and a total of 1,500 for the 30X150 or 3,500 for the overall quantity.
Do you have any suggestion how can I make this process simple? Please help.
Thank you.

Hi,
Make Rod as batch wise. Receive Rod in its actual length under quantity field. For showing Quantity of Rodon PO & GRPO, create UDF on the purchase and GRPO.

Hi,
Normally we buy in piece and then we will define number of quantity per pc in bill of material.
For example:
Diameter 50 mm x 100 = 5 Pcs
We buy Diameter 50mm x 100mms 1 Pc. ie. PO Qty = 1pc
In BOM we will define parent item = 10 Child item = 1 pc ( Da 50 x 100mm)
In this way, there is no problem in controlling inventory unit as well as quantity.
Thanks & Regards,
