Infobject's Attribute as Query Filter

Hello Experts,

I'm creating report on top of the bex query, in bw  have a infobject with few attributes in it. The requirememt is to create a filter using those attribute.

I tried to do in bex query but no luck, even in webi not able to bring them as query filter.

Please let me know is there any workaround to have attribute as filter in webi?

Appreciate your comments,

Note - using sp05 with patch level 1

Thanks,

Vinay

Hello Vinay,

using the direct connectivity in BI4 towards the BEx queries you can not use the Display Attributes as a filter.

Hi Vinay,

If I understand right you are referring to using display attributes of infoobject in the query filters section of webi report when generating a report using BICS connection.

As per my knowledge, if its through UDT universe, You can use the detail object(your equivalent of bex display attribute) in the query filters pane to create filters or prompts, but the limitation would be it would degrade on performance as you are filtering on non indexed objects and also your list of values for the prompt on this object would show duplicate values.

If its through BICS connection, it does not allow you to drag and drop detail objects into query filters pane to filter on them. that's the current behavior.

Alternatively, you can bring the same as separate characteristic or  as navigational attribute and use it in query filters of WEBI to avoid above mentioned issues

Hi Mike/Mallik,

Thanks for quick turn arround.

Initially i thought to switch to Navigational, i proposed this method to the architects here! for some reason we cant go with this option.

UDT universe cant have it, because of its performance impacts as per Mallik..

Thanks,

Vinay

Hi Mike/Mallik,

One more doubt, what if i switch to navigational attribute in the infoobject, would i still  be able to bring them as hierarchy prompt.

Thanks in advance.

hi vinay,

As far as i know, Navigational attribute should behave similar to characteristic, so if you have hierarchy associated with it, then you should be able to use it as hierarchy prompt.

You need to convert your attribute to  a navigational attribute in your multi-provider & cube.
