System copy from SAP system on Exadata

Hello,

Is it possible to copy the data from DEV on Exadata to QAS on Exadata?

I'd like to homogeneous system copy from SAP system on Exadata.

I've read system copy guide (provisioning manager) and could not found any restriction for Exadata...

But I don't know whether exporting data from Exadata is supported by SAP or not.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Takae

Hi Takae,

Refer SAP  Note 1627541 - BR*Tools support for Oracle ASM and Exadata

for details on backup and restore using brtools for Exadata.

Hope this helps.

Hello Deepak,

Thank you for your comments. I really appreciate your help.

Copying system with BR*Tools for SAP on Exadata is also supported by SAP?

I understood that I should get offline backup from DEV system with BR*Tools and restore it on QAS system with BR*Tools according to the system copy guide.

Thank you

Takae.

Hi Takae,

As a best practise we do not refresh QAS from DEV system. QAS system is mostly refresh from Production system.

In your case if you want to refresh QAS, I would suggest you to take online/offline backup of production and restore the same on QAS.

Hope this helps.

Hello Deepak,

Thank you for your reply.

Do you think we should use manual offline/online backup and restore to copy the system, not BR*Tools?

Thank you.
