Unit of Issue problem

Hello,

I am  facing a problem in unit iof issue.

I need to change the Unit of Issue in SAP material master. When i tried to change that then got error as mentioned below:

The unit of issue cannot be changed because the material is used in a BOM
Message no. M3214

Diagnosis
The unit of issue can be changed only in the following cases:

If there is no change in the dimension of the unit of issue, and if the unit of issue is not dimensionless

If the base unit of measure and the previous unit of issue have the same dimension, and are not dimensionless

Now even when we tried to change this in BOM then also we got the same message. We do have change number active in CS02.

How to change this .. what are pre requisite.?

Regards

Himanshu

Hi,

The same problem araised for me also. Only the solution is delete the BOM, if production production order is created delete everything and change the unit of issue. Then create the BOM.

CASE is a  dimensionless unit, hence it meets what is said in the explanation of the error message:

If the base unit of measure and the previous unit of issue have the same dimension, and are not dimensionless

Have you checked the OSS notes mentioned by

if you delete a BOM item, then this item is still in the database, and you could undelete it , hence it is checked to avoid inconsistencies. So you have to physically delete the BOM item to be able to change the material master. Physical deletion is usually done with archiving (where SAP does as well numerous checks that can lead to error messages)

Check the OSS notes if they can help with the reports provided.

To be honest, you are certainly quicker by creating a new material.
