Hello

I suggest HANA for you.

The technical role in HANA may be a good choice for you.

Have a look at

'SAP HANA Training and Certification - Lead the Way' in the  https://training.sap.com/us/en/certification/

and from some sources,

The Average SAP Hana Consultant Salary in United States: $110000+

Krishna,

First of congratulation for thinking of learning something new, Transitioning into another career path is very important decision. As replied by Nagarajan the difference between the 2. i would rather emphasize more on you rather than technology.

i would say you need to have few check points and ask lot of self questions because no one else will know you better than you.

1- What you like most about these two technologies?

2- What is your Immediate future goals in terms of Career and Professional goals? Does any of these technology help you?

3-What is your long term learning goals?

4-What are the opportunities in both these technology for you?

5- How much you need to spend in terms of time, money which in line with your long term goal

6- How much time required to learn and practice for technology you choose?

If all your answers to most of question is closure to the technology you like then yes go ahead and Pursue that technology.

If at all you have decided to select SAP Basis which is very lucrative and same time challenging and demanding in nature. be ready to spend good amount of time to learn it and you need dedicated time to transition into SAP basis roles. based on your experience i don't see any problem you transitioning either of technologies provided you put an extra effort and hard work to learn it.

I hope it helps

Best Regards

Krishna,

VMware is a well-know virtualization product which is widely used and is greatly reducing the cost of hardware used for building IT infrastructure in the server space. The Basis group deals with Installation/maintenance of SAP software, you should check out to what extent virtualization is accepted/used in SAP. You may would like to take up SAP BASIS first, learn it well and take certification if possible as it will add value to your profile and will attract employers/recruiters. You can also learn Virtualization anytime and see to what extent it can be used in SAP.

Thank you,

Nagarajan Viswanathan
