Vanishing VARCHAR(MAX) Fields

I've been searching for quite some time for a solution to an issue I've been having with Crystal Reports and Crystal Reports Enterprise.

Perhaps someone here can offer a solution.

For some reason, I often run into this situation.

I develop a report and when executed from Crystal Reports desktop, it looks fine.

But, when I schedule the report to run under Crystal Reports Enterprise, all of the string fields disappear, but 'memo' fields remain


This is rather maddening! 😠

Can anyone provide a solution that doesn't require me to to modify all of the VARCHAR fields to TEXT?
