BEx queries (3.X) saved in Query Designer 7 , still has the old 3.X layout in PFCG

Hi,

Problem Description: BEx queries (3.X) saved in Query Designer 7 , still has the old 3.X layout in PFCG.

We are in the middle of migrating BEX 3.X query to BEX 7,

In the current situation, we have an existing roles that has BEx queries (3.X) published to it,  using PFCG.

For example:

Role: YBW_MENU1

                  - Report_1

*All reports are 3.X reports

When we open Query Designer 7 and save the Report_1 (now it will be saved as BEX 7 report),

and publish it again (to the original location as the 3.X was ) we expect to see
the new report in PFCG , but we don't.

PFCG shows the old 3.X report!

Just when we deleted the old report and publish the new report ... only then we will
see the new report.

Problem is : we have hundreds of reports...so do it manually, it will take a lot of
time.

Is there any "Automatic" way to remove the old one and show the new one instead?

Thanks in advance,

Morchi

Hi Morchi,

As above said there is no automation process, but as per my understanding we have to save manually all the reports under role. Later check that role whether correct reports are assigned and transport to further, so what i suggest

1. Delete all workbooks from existing roles in a single go from PFCG.

2. Hope you have access to the existing role, otherwise get it for your ID.

3. Anyway you have to save once you migrate from 3.X to 7.X, so save directly to existing role.

I feel these steps are easy, correct me if I'm wrong.

If you have many roles, then ask basis/security team to copy the folders/reports from existing to others. Even we followed these steps.

hope it helps,

Umashankar

Hi Morchi,

Unfortunately there is no automated process.

I don't think any automation is available to change all the old queries to new queries in the roles. You can migrate the old roles to new roles, but the query assignments have to be done manually it seems.
