The password you have entered for role "observer" is incorrect.

Please refer attached error screenshot.

SUM version : SUM1_SP07

Hello

Not sure whether you trying to reset the password or create another user.

If you have forgotten the password then do this

There should be a file called .sdt_storage in the SUM/sdt/data directory.

Just stop SUM and rename that file.

Restart SUM.

This will let you create a new user and password

Hi RB,

I was trying to login as observer, but not able to do so.

.sdt_storage is not available in the mentioned path.

my counterpart here can able to login as administrator. However, when i try login as observer i was getting the mentioned error.

I will change the password for observer as suggested by Johan.

Please clarify below,

1. If I start SUM again from different location on the same machine,

Can I login as observer to monitor the existing session which is already running ?

2. If I start SUM in a different machine for the first time, what steps I have to perform to login as administrator ?

Thanks, Ganesh

Hello Ganesh

Are you able to login using the same user with the role "Administrator" ?

1. If I start SUM again from different location on the same machine, Can I login as observer to monitor the existing session which is already running ?

You dont start SUM tool multiple times on one server. If there is already one running the other will fail. Check this SAP KBA

1792305  - Software Update Manager hangs with blank GUI

You start SUM on the machine where you perform the upgrade using the STARTUP file.

You then take control of the upgrade console (SUM tool) by accessing the URL http://<host name>:4239 using a browser.

2. If I start SUM in a different machine for the first time, what steps I have to perform to login as administrator ?

When you start SUM for the first time the tool will prompt you to create a user and password with the Administrator role. This cannot be skipped.

Cheers

Hi Gaensh,

Whatever Reagan has told is correct.

Please stop exit the SUM tool completely and then delete following
two files under .../SUM/sdt/data,
              .sdt_keystore
              .sdt_storage

Once that is done, please change the password and you can launch the
SUM tool again.

Hi Ganesh,

Refer to link.

http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-25113

There are 2 users in SAPup tool. 1) Administrator 2) observer

You can set the password of observer by administrator login.

Goto

administrator --> change passwords --> observer

hi ganesh,

I would say check note Check SAP Note 1557404 - Central Note - Software Update Manager 1.0 SP02 [lmt_007] for more information

Current status of note is released internally only maybe ask SAP AG to release this note to you.
