Migrating CR XI R2 reports based on Universe to BI 4.0

Has anyone had success doing this?

I migrated a bunch of CR XI R2 reports from an XI R2 system to a clean BI 4.0 SP6 system, and none of the reports work via the BI Launch Pad. After ensuring that the report's database credentials are correct, I get the following error when I try to view on demand:

The viewer could not process an event. The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect. [] ---- Error code:0 [CRWEB00000119]

In the BI 4.0 system, the Webi reports based off of the same Universe work fine, so it isn't a user rights issue I don't think. Moreover, the CUID of the Universe is the same in both source and target systems.

I installed Crystal Reports 2011 on the server machine, and when I open one of these Crystal Reports from the BI 4.0 system I get the error:

Failed to open the connection.

Details: Update of the SQL command from the Universe failed. This report cannot be refreshed unless the SQL command is update from the Universe.

However, same goes if I try to run the report, Verify Database, or attempt Show SQL Query.

It seems as though all of the migrated Crystal Reports have become decoupled from the Universe they were based on in the source system. Has anyone encountered this, and better yet found a solution?

Thanks!

Hi Allan,

I faced similar issue , the only difference the crystal reports were based on BEx queries.

We fixed issue by following steps :

As the report is refreshing successfully in Crystal Reports 2011,

1) Import the report in Crystal Reports 2011, refresh it , save the report  desktop(local copy)

2) Upload the report to BusinessObjects Enterprise by using 'Add document' option in folders section

3) Provide the database information

4) Now run the report through BI Launchpad .

Hi Pallavi,

Thanks for the response.

Tried that but yields the same results. The only solution I've found that works is to open the report in Crystal Reports 2011, change the data source location to be the same Universe and then save it back. Even though the original data source is the same Universe, for some reason is unable to find it and have a query generated unless I do this.

Regards,

Allan
