Production Order Archival

Dear Experts

Please guide us for the following scenario.

We have open production orders since 2009. The order status are predominantly TECO , CNF, PCNF etc. It is requested by the Business ( especially Finance department) that the orders be archieved as the system consumes too much of time during the month end activities.

There is a need to devise a create a comprehensive archival strategy

Following procedure are considered.

1. Production orders which are more than 6 months old are allowed to be archieved by the business. The production orders which are archived must be retrievable.

2. The archival first be carried out manually and then a background job can be scheduled to be run on monthly basis if needed.

3. A proper archival strategy may be adopted by including the SAP Basis Team.

The Basis Team has recommended that the orders be archived manually and this should suffice the requirement. Building up the archival strategy will be very comprehensive job in this regard.

I request you to please provide us with the step by step procedure to carry out archiving manually. Also suggest the best practice in the context of the current scenario. Thanks

Kind regards

Aman Khan
