Hello Gururs,
Hope , all of you are doing well !!
Please suggest whether we can overwrite/convert kernel of type 'REL' to 'EXT' (extended) type ? Actually the situation is that I have upgraded BI (ABAP based) to NW 7.3 EHP1 SP6. After completion of upgraded, in SICK, it's showing following error:-
SAP System Check
R/3 release 731 is not supported with this kernel (720)
Severe problems were detected during initial system check.
Please, do not use that system before fixing these problems.
My current version is:-
--------------------
disp+work information
--------------------
kernel release 720
kernel make variant 720_REL
compiled on NT 5.2 3790 S x86 MS VC++ 14.00 for NTAMD64
compiled for 64 BIT
compilation mode UNICODE
compile time Jan 16 2013 16:56:16
update level 0
patch number 401
source id 0.401
As per note '1591607' for SAP_BASIS 731, we need kernel of 7.20 EXT version, so can we convert my latest REL version to EXT version ?
pPease suggest.
Regards,
Nilutpal.
Hi Nilutpal,
I am not sure, if there is any such thing like conversion/ overwrite for SAP Kernel 720_REL to 720_EXT.
However, to resolve your issue, you need to run your SAP System on SAP Kernel 720_EXT, which implies that you need to "Install SAP Kernel 720_EXT".
This would be a pretty much similar to what you do while applying kernel patches, with some additional checks for SAP Kernel 720_EXT as it is compiled on new OS Kernels and with latest DB Client Libraries.
I would suggest, to plan installing SAP Kernel 720_EXT in your SAP System.
Refer the following notes, to achieve the same:
Also, if it helps, you may check out this blog (However I have deployed 720_REL here, but you might get an idea of what all additional checks are required for 720_EXT Kernel)=>
Let me know, how it goes.
Best Regards,
Akshay.
